Jones, Bobby - Autographed Letter

This historic piece contains a one-page letter from Bobby Jones to Charles Price, the founding editor of Golf magazine. Price was one of the most celebrated golf writers of his era. And he was Jones’ primary link to the publishing world. Price became a personal friend and confidant of Bobby Jones over the last twenty years of of Jones' life. Price collaborated with Jones on the classic instructional book Bobby Jones on Golf and also wrote A Golf Story: Bobby Jones, Augusta National and the Masters Tournament . As a golf writer and friend Price was highly respected by Bobby Jones.

In 1959 Golf Magazine was founded with Charles Price as its first editor. Upon his appointment as editor, Jones felt compelled to send a letter of congratulations to his old friend.

In this personal letter, dated Dec. 12, 1958, Bobby Jones expresses his delight at the prospect of Price directing a magazine of "high quality" devoted entirely to the game of golf.
