Crenshaw, Ben - Autographed Photo
Born: January 11, 1952 in Austin, TX.
After twelve years on tour Ben Crenshaw finally seized his first major title at the 1984 Masters. Crenshaw took the lead on Thursday with a 67 and stayed near the lead before taking control with a 68 in Sunday's final round. Spurred by a 60-foot birdie at the 10th, and a birdie at the always difficult 12th; Crenshaw finished at 277, 2 strokes ahead of Tom Watson.
The 1995 Masters witnessed a miracle. Days after the death of his mentor Harvey Penick, an emotional Ben Crenshaw won the Masters. In a battle with Greg Norman and Davis Love, Crenshaw rode his hot putter to birdies on 13, 16 and 17 to post 274 and beat Love by 1 stroke. As if by divine intervention, Crenshaw has summoned the long dormant powers of his short game and honored his fallen hero with his second green jacket. This would be Crenshaw's final major and final win on Tour.
Crenshaw receives his green jacket from Jose Maria Olazabal.
