The Twin Towers of Wembley - Model by Timothy Richards
  Price: $275.00

Item # M774

The Twin Towers of Wembley have dominated the Wembley skyline for more than seven decades. This “venue of legends” has become synonymous with football (soccer) worldwide. It has been the Home of Football Associations cup finals from 1923 and was the venue for England’s triumph in the 1966 World Cup final. The stadium was the stage upon which the game’s great names played over a 77-year period. Of all stadiums where football is played in the world the greatest of them all is Wembley, the spiritual home of the beautiful game. Built between the first and second world wars the huge stadium used pre-stressed concrete technology and was built in record time.

Timothy Richards’ architectural models and bookends are unique and are at the forefront of this genre of work. Central to the theme is that of architectural truth. Only traditional materials are used – the body of each model being made in plaster with additional detail in etched brass, lead and sometimes stained glass and cooper. All designs are well researched using a combination of original plans and detailed photographs.
