Walter Hagen sand iron with concave face and oversized flange was patented in 1928 by Edwin K. MacClain and manufactured by L.A. Ypong Co. The USGA outlawed the club in 1931, but not before Bobby Jones carried and used the club during his 1930 Open Championship victory at Hoylake en route to capturing golf’s Grand Slam. |
