William Flynn's most masterful creation, Shinnecock Hills, was a redesign that incorporated only one green from the original course, the "Redan" at #7. As depicted in the painting, by constructing an elevation on the right side from the approach through the green, a shot played to the right can feed down to the green on the left. In fact, the design even encourages such a play. Playing a shot directly at a left side pin placement risks the deep bunker in front and a very narrow landing area.
