Richards with His Creations |
For Timothy Richards, the journey to successfully blend architectural
splendor, art and functionality began over13 years ago. Along the way, he has
amassed an impressive list of accomplishments, including commissions from the
Victoria & Albert Museum, Harvard University, the National Portrait Gallery, the
Royal Ontario Museum, and many other prominent organizations. His distinguished
work is gaining in reputation, not only in his native England but more recently,
here in the United States.
Mr. Richards' central focus in any project is architectural truth. Using British
Gypsum plaster, he carefully and skillfully replicates every piece, which allows
him to create the most exquisite detail, right down to the brick texture and leaf
moldings. Mr. Richards stays true to the traditional materials, using etched brass,
lead, copper, and thin metal leaf for the window frames, doorknobs, and other
fine details. There is no resin or plastic to be found in his workshop.
A gifted artist, his unique ability to reproduce the very finest of details is
nothing short of incredible. To look upon his architectural models or bookends
is to look upon the facades of some of the world's most unforgettable structures.
Timothy Richards? models and bookends are renowned for their rigor, definition,
and attention to detail. Architects and collectors alike will recognize his work
as modeling of the highest caliber. The tactile quality of these models is exceptional
and alluring. Each piece displays a powerful image, drawing on elements present
in the original design, recognizing and respecting the original vision of the
architect.
Lucinda Lambton, well known author, once said of Timothy Richards : "To hold one
of his exquisite models in the palm of your hand is to grasp the very essence
of architecture".
Mr. Richards is available for golf commissions through Golf Links to Past, where
he is exclusively represented.
